Why is a natural physical phenomenon that has existed since the dawn of time still so poorly supported, misunderstood, and often negatively experienced?

How can we help menstruating individuals better understand and navigate this monthly process?
Drawing inspiration from the aesthetics and codes of sex toys, symbols of the growing openness around female pleasure and, more broadly, the liberation of speech surrounding the vulva. CYCLO

In recent years, more and more menstruating individuals have been moving away from conventional contraception methods in favor of so-called natural approaches.
With its cyclotest device and mobile app, Cyclo offers simple, intuitive guidance and tracking empowering users to reclaim their independence.

URBAN PLANNING WITHOUT CHILDREN

How to rethink urban space while considering a strong desire of children: to contribute without being responsible.
Traffic laws (by children)

Urban environments often lack stimulation and interactivity. Public spaces are rarely designed to encourage playful exploration. Traffic laws (By Children) proposes a more intuitive and creative approach to urban space.

An orphan book is a literary work whose author or rights holders cannot be identified or located to obtain the necessary permissions for its use or distribution. Although these works are still protected by copyright, they are often difficult to make accessible to the public due to uncertainty about the rights holders. ORPHAN BOOKS In France, how can we highlight and restore access to so-called orphan works held in major national libraries for people who cannot physically visit them, while respecting intellectual property laws and copyright regulations? PROBLEM STATEMENT

Orphelin’art is a visual discovery engine app designed to explore reinterpretations of orphan books. Each orphan book is represented by an illustration and a summary, enabling the legal publication of the books. The app also highlights illustrators. Users can come to the app to seek inspiration or simply to be entertained.

The 2020 anti-waste law requires every household to have a composting solution starting January 1, 2024. The Greater Lyon metropolitan area anticipated this obligation by gradually deploying composting stations since 2021, covering the entire Lyon territory by summer 2024. INTERVIEWS

  • Half composters, half non-composters
  • A communication issue around composting emerges

"I didn’t even know about it, the previous guy who lived in the apartment just handed me his bin, that’s all."

There is also sometimes a complex experience in managing composting that discourages people, combined with new habits that haven’t been adopted yet.

"Otherwise, yeah, you see it on the streets when you walk around, but you don’t really know how to do it."
Students make up 34% of the Lyon population (175,000 people). This group is an interesting audience for several reasons:

  • High concentration in the area
  • Potential for adopting new practices
  • Multiplier effect on their peers
Establishment of a partnership between the Greater Lyon Metropolis and the Linkee association. We, as designers, will act as coordinators and create the graphic elements and products for the partnership. Training and donation of documentation and equipment from the Metropolis to Linkee. Distribution of awareness posters in public transportation to inform about composting and help users feel more comfortable with their practices. Awareness-raising and active follow-up with students during Linkee’s food distributions. A moment for exchanges and questions about composting practices. Analysis of Linkee’s operations and discussion with the metropolitan authority on ways to collaborate to raise awareness about the importance of composting waste. Creation of a small compost bin adapted for students, co-designed with the Metropolis, Linkee, and us. LINKEE/GRAND LYON PARTNERSHIP SYSTEM

Designing a service or system that enables these three stakeholders to communicate and collaborate effectively.

As part of this study, we decided to test the system with the association Linkee. Linkee is an organization fighting food waste by redistributing unsold goods from supermarkets and merchants to students for free through short supply chains. The system can be used by other associations of the same kind.

The partnership between the Lyon Metropolis and the Linkee association illustrates the tangible impact of collaborations between local authorities and associations, such as the increase in composted organic waste. This model encourages reflection on the role of public-associative partnerships in fostering citizen engagement. By combining public resources and associative expertise, these initiatives can inspire other cities to raise awareness about issues like recycling or biodiversity, thereby strengthening the connection between territories and their inhabitants. If successful, this project could be replicated on a national or international scale for inclusive and effective campaigns.

Dessintey is a French medtech company specializing in neurorehabilitation. Their SRT (Self-Rehabilitation Technology) helps patients regain motor function through interactive, sensor-based exercises that provide real-time feedback and adapt to each user’s abilities. The technology encourages autonomy, increases rehabilitation intensity, and is used in hospitals and care centers worldwide, including in a large-scale initiative in Ukraine. There are three SRT devices, each targeting different motor skills, from gross to fine movements. We were asked to conduct a user study for this company in order to observe whether the device was well understood and integrated into daily practices and usage, both by patients and medical staff in rehabilitation centers and hospitals.

We visited three different centers:
We first conducted a broad panel of interviews. Then, we analyzed the data in order to categorize it and begin identifying typical user journeys based on each center.

We also analyzed the physical space and its impact on how the devices were used.

Finally, we drew several key insights before making recommendations in response to our findings.
Unfortunately, due to confidentiality reasons, I am not allowed to share this information.
